phone trouble

The Nokia 6230 is keeping me busy! I am still not able to reopen the cover - now I think, I have displaced the opener and have to go to a shop now. The other trouble was caused by getting midlets to run on that device.

Nokia has failed to support proper mmapi, but sockets should work fine - instead mail4me (mail) and jimm (icq), both did not work...

But now they do! Problems solution were:

• have a proper GRPS connection (not WAP, but internet access point)
• Treat Jimm a little different. Forum posts show, that there is a GPRS connection issue with Nokia 6230 and Jimm failing to reconnect. Setting the java options to ask for connection every time enables you to manually reconnect, when connection has gone (You have to wait to see the GPRS icon disappear before allowing new connect). So I could actually send my first instant message (whatever I will need it for...)

Sockets ARE working…
