Travel log on visting suzie from 11 to 14 April 200311 April 2003
I am on a little holiday trip to Switzerland during the weekend:
I went to Zürich by plane and – despite being half an hour late – managed to get the train right to Bern. This was only possible due to the traveller's guidance at the
Zürich Airport! Not too many signs showed you the direct way from the gates to the railway station and all the self service machines made it easy to get a ticket right along. Between leaving the plane and getting my baggage about 10 minutes past and I thought the 15 mins left would not be enough to get the ticket and to get the train. But in the end I even had enough time to buy a 'weggli' also!
I arrived in Bern on time, so I could enjoy the rest of the day and finally get a drink in the CUBA Bar. On the way home, I had a
starbucks cappuccino, which is really expensive, but tastes a lot better than the
mc donalds one, I am used to get at
Frankfurt Airport.

Getting in bed with headache and waking up without is a nice start for a morning. It's rainy today, so we will have an extended breakfast before thinking about to do. Shopping will be no problem because of the 'Laubengänge' Bern offers (aracade–like pathways).
But the weather got better, which did not help me to find anything to buy! Finally I got a new DVD
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. A cool
Hamlet interpretation which I recommend to everyone.
I watched
Just Married. In Switzerland the movies are mostly shown in their original language and are subtitled (german/french). This is really cool, as in germany it is not easy to get the original language on a big screen. What is not that cool, is the break in the middle of the movie which is quite common in Bern…
13 April 2003
This day was reported to become a sunny one and it did. After getting up and having an extended breakfast in a hotel restaurant (
Allegretto) we went to the
gurten. We spent some time there and on arriving at home in the afternoon, we decided to do some running due to the nice weather. In the evening we baked pancakes and watched
Notting Hill.
14 April 2003
This is travel-home day and I am writing these entries at the Zurich airport waiting for my plane home and watching
Unbreakable.
